Area Rugs

Decorating with area rugs is one of the easiest ways to update, revitalize and beautify your home. Rugs can add dramatic color and design to every room; create a focal point or define areas; add warmth to the look and feel of tiles, stone, or concrete; protect hardwood floors or wall-to-wall carpeting; and tie elements of a room together. You can change rugs when the seasons change and take them with you if you move. It is not surprising that area rugs are of great interest to the do-it-yourself decorator.

Color is probably the most important element in decorating and should top the list of your requirements when selecting area rugs. If a room has a lot of bright colors and looks very busy, choose a neutral color and a subtle design for the rug. If the colors of the room are soft and neutral, you can add a splash of color and interest with a bright rug and a dramatic design. If you want to enhance the color scheme that exists in a room, select a rug that repeats the dominant or accent colors; if the color scheme hasn’t been chosen, buy the rug of your dreams and decorate the room around it.

Bean Bag Chairs

These days, bean bag chairs are available in a vast range of colors and styles. However not all fabrics are created equal – some are more hardwearing, some suitable for outdoors use, whereas others may be warmer to the touch. In general though, the sturdier the fabric, the longer the bean bag chair will last. More sturdy fabrics are easier to maintain and clean, and require less care. Also, darker colors show fewer marks and stains than lighter color fabrics do. If your climate is cooler, a chair with a fur rather than denim fabric for instance will keep you warmer.

The original concept behind the bean bag chair was to create stylish mobile furniture, which is unlike conventional bulky furniture. Thus the bean bag chair is easily moved from room to room as well as from indoors to outdoors. The design of it is highly praised, as it adapts to many different body shapes. The original Sacco featured a headrest that got its shape from beans being pushed up into this area. In the more modern bean bags, the head area is not a separate component, rather now a part of the bean bag chair which is accentuated.

With today’s technology, a traditional fence is simply outdated. There are more options to having a just an iron fence; I’m talking about a gate operator. A gate operator is a mechanical device used to open and close a gate, such as one at the end of a driveway. There are three main types of electric gate openers: screw driven, arm openers and underground loop openers. How would you like it when you can carry groceries without the hassle of opening and closing your gate manually? With a Gate Operator you can do this because it’s practically hands free.

There are numerous types of gate operators. Swing Gate Operators and slide gate operators are the most common of the types. These can be added to your existing gates or can be a part of your fencing plan at the design phase.

People in high end rural residential houses on adequate land may require a driveway gate. Driveway gates will enhance the home’s elegance and adds security to lengthy driveways. A gate at the entrance to a home is also the perfect place to put on security cameras. Driveway gates can be installed with gate operators that are usually manufactured from iron, steel or ornamental aluminum. Regardless of which selection suits your lifestyle, fencing is a useful and beautiful part of any American’s home. For more options and choices, you might want to look at some Apollo Gate Operators.

Some Tips On Landscape Design

Landscape Design Picture

Landscape Design

Landscape design is more complex than one would imagine. When I was first doing the landscaping at our new house I thought I would go to the store pick out everything I thought was pretty, bring it home, slap it in and it would radiate the neighborhood. Little did I know that what ended up happening is that I bought a lot I plants and shrubs that were pleasing to the eye just not when lumped all together in my flower bed. I always have loved those carefree flowing flower beds but really there is a tremendous amount of work that goes into making them look like they are carefree flowing flower beds.

These simple tips will help you to save money and create a landscape design that not only compliments your home but also makes you the envy of the neighborhood.

The Five Basic Principles in Landscape Design

1) Harmony: This is the most important of all the tips listed. Harmony to any landscape design can be created by repetition. For instance when creating a border for the bed you would not want to layer the bed with a plastic edging and then switch and do another section with wood. It is best to keep the material the same. Another element that is important in creating harmony is to keep the different elements consistent size, texture and colors are all very important. Many people consider themed gardens to help create harmony in their landscape design.

2) Minimalism: This is for all of us beginners. It is important to start small and simple and build on later. For instance pick a plant you love and triple it. Then look around and find a bush that resembles the flower in shape, texture, color shade and chose that. Do not wonder around aimlessly buying every pretty plant that you see that is not minimalism. Start with a few items, come home set them up and begin expanding from there. Simple is for sure a good place to start. Remember that space fills in quickly as your garden matures.

3) Equilibrium: This is what helps create a feeling of balance. It helps your flower bed not to feel like a random jungle. Symmetry is useful in creating balance. Often you will find rows used. Taller plants take up the back and as you move forward the plants tend to get smaller turn into ground covers for edging. Another way to create equilibrium is to use small groupings throughout your garden.

4) Tints and Shades: By now you can see this is a common sense principle in landscape design. It is not important to have every color of the rainbow represented in your garden. Complimentary colors work best in creating a landscape design. Often we become kids in a candy shop when you let us loose in the garden section of a store. Try to resist the urge to mix orange with fuchsia. You get the drift.

5) Effortless Change: Make the transitions from one section of your flower bed to another seamless. What you don’t want to create is separate spaces for your garden. You want it to look and feel like it all flows together as one. You want it to appear that Mother Nature placed the plants in your yard naturally so that you create unity with the landscape design, home and yard.

Hopefully these tips will inspire your next landscape design idea. It often helps when moving into a new home or replacing the old to clean out what you don’t like about the old before you go to the store. You might find once the rubbish that is not eye catching is cleared away that a few simple moderation’s can create a huge difference without spending a ton of money.

Home Landscaping Design Tips

Home landscaping design can add great amount of value to your garden. To pull it off however, you need to plan your entire effort into a scheduled plan so that you get most out of your efforts.

Landscape Ideas

Most people start out with excitement for a great home landscape idea but without much knowledge of executing them in the backyard or front yard their efforts may go into vain.

That’s why here is a simple 3-step plan that works for every type of home garden very easily and with least efforts.

Step 1: Write down what you intend to have in the finished garden on a piece of paper. This step is absolutely important and many guys mess it up or completely eliminate from the process.

Once you know what you want in the home garden it becomes a simple task of getting it together in the assigned budget. Gardening is a simple process of planning and executing within the limitations of budget and the physical boundaries of the backyard.

Step 2: Create simple sketches using pencil and paper or a landscaping design software (if you can). Try various alternatives of the design. Garden planning works best when you let your imagination go wild.

Use the list of items you created in the first step to place them in your backyard or front yard. You can go in for a grid floor plan or a random or informal layout with circular pathways to move around in the garden. There are absolutely infinite options available here. Get out in the backyard and start to visualize the finishes and completely planned garden already in place.

Step 3: With the finished garden sketches you can start to actually mark boundaries of various spaces on the site and have a landscaping contractor do the execution work for you.

Garage Doors Picture

Garage Doors

When people think of garage doors today, they usually picture automatic garage doors, and almost always the overhead door type of garage doors. Automatic garage doors are preferred to other types because of their convenience and safety. You operate the automatic garage doors with a garage door opener from the comfort and security of your vehicle.

As you near the automatic garage doors in your automobile, you simply press a button on the garage door opener and the automatic garage doors slide smoothly open. Once you’ve pulled your car inside and shut the motor off, you can operate the automatic garage doors with another signal from the garage door opener.

Automatic garage doors are definitely a convenience when the weather is bad, or when you’re coming home to an empty house. With a garage door opener and automatic garage doors, you don’t need to get out of your automobile until the automatic garage door is closed and secured.

There are some disadvantages to using automatic garage doors though, especially with a garage door opener. Because the power in the remote unit is battery operated, you must make sure to have batteries for your remote garage door opener unit. Secondly, some signals may be close enough to those of your neighbor that more than one garage door opener can be activated at the same time.

Third, automatic garage doors occasionally do get “off the track” so that they no longer move up and down on the rails correctly. It can be difficult to accomplish the garage door repair to get the automatic garage doors back on the rails without an extra pair of hands, and in the meantime, the automatic garage doors may need to be left in an open position so that they cannot be secured. Garage door repair is a rather specialized service, but garage door repair should be provided by the manufacturer of your automatic garage door opener unit.

Automatic garage doors should have another safety feature. They should always have a automatic stop feature built in. This will stop the automatic garage doors from coming down on the back of your automobile, or on the neck or chest of a toddler. A panic stop button is provided on some units to prevent further damage to vehicles or other objects obstructing the path of the door.
