Chipmunks, Rats, Squirrels, Mice will be baited well with Raisins, sliced apples, birdseed, and cheese.
For Ferret, Mink, Skunks, Opossums, Stray Cat use crisp bacon, fish, fresh vegetables, and cat food.
Bobcat, Nutria bait Havahart traps with crisp bacon, fish, and cat food. Rabbit, Muskrat will be attracted to fresh vegetables, carrots, and apples.
Porcupines, Woodchucks, fresh vegetables Armadillo meal worms, maggots, spoiled meat, over-ripe fruit, sardines, and fish. Large Squirrels will be attracted to cereals, nuts while Raccoons work best with crisp bacon, fish, fresh vegetables, and canned cat food.
You will want to locate your Havahart animal trap in an area where animals are often observed. Place the cage on a level surface and position the side of the cage trap against a wall or building or in the path commonly traveled by the animal. Check your animal traps often, you do not want to allow the animal to stay trapped for a long period of time.
You will need to check with your local or state Game Commission to determine the lawful method of disposing of a captured animal. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HANDLE CAPTURED ANIMALS. DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED NEAR A CAPTURED ANIMAL.
When you are ready to release the animal, make sure you approach the trap cautiously and quietly so you don’t excite the animal. Stay clear till animal leaves the trap when you release the animal from your Havahart animal trap.
