Missouri is home to many species of mosquitoes including the Eastern Treehole, the Floodwater and the Asian Tiger, otherwise known as the Forest Day Mosquito. Not all species are native to Missouri nor can they be found throughout the state, however many have acclimated to the weather and are able to withstand hot summers and cold winters. There’s not a whole lot that can be done to completely eliminate mosquito populations but there are ways to reduce their numbers so that summer is an enjoyable season.
